The Daracon Croft Racing Dirt Late Model team was forced to curtail its 2008/09 campaign early after suffering engine failure at Tamworth City Speedway in the first round of competition for the NSW Late Model Championship. “It was a disappointing end to the season” said Team Principal / Driver Ken Croft from his Gunnedah NSW base. “We had set ourselves for a good crack at the NSW title, and with it being a big two night affair at Tamworth and Gunnedah we were feeling reasonably confident. The car had been fast at meetings leading up to the title, and I was happy in my own ability to get the job done, but as often happens in speedway ‘fate’ had other ideas”. |

Everyone's favourite viking overcome adversary to conquer the field at the last meeting of the phenomenal 2008-2009 season at Parramatta City Raceway last night. On an extremely slippery track, Neil Wallace in the SKM Marine, Viking Global Industries entry took control of probably the fastest field this year to take the final feature of the season. Behind Wallace - his first podium at Parramatta this season - was the fastest and most consistent driver of the season, Scott McPherson in the Canberra Better Trailers entry - who has finished on the podium at every meet this season - and likeable Lyle Dicker, in the Dicker Glass entry, who also made his first Parramatta podium this year.

The South Australian Late Model Association made history over the Easter long weekend when the inaugural Link Distributors / Cadbury Schwepps South Australian Late Model Championship was run and won at the Edge Hotel / Motel Timmis Speedway located in Mildura, Victoria on April 10 and 12.
New South Welshman Scott McPherson aboard the Better Trailers Canberra / Graham Silk Engines Mopar powered Rayburn chassis proved to be the fastest of the bunch to set his name at the top of the record books as the first ever South Australian Champion, the trail blazer was followed to the line by Daryl Grimson’s The Finance Group / Racers Garage Chev Warrior and the Jack Hillermans Smash Repairs / Motofoto Chev Rocket of Barry Kelleher, making it an all New South Wales podium. While the boys from the East Coast were cheering the loudest unfortunately the ‘fast four’ from South Australia were all non finishers due to various incidents. |

The Final Round of the 2008/09 ELMA sanctioned East Coast Late Model Series will be held at Tyrepower Parramatta City Raceway (NSW) Saturday April 18 and the SKM Motorsport Team plan on being in the thick of the action. “Parramatta has been a difficult track for us to master so hopefully this final hit out for the season will bring some worthwhile results” said Team Principal Neil Wallace. “We’ve enjoyed a very consistent run on the Parramatta clay, but we need to step up even further, so it would be great to cap the season off with a podium finish. I really enjoy competing at Parramatta as its one of the few tracks in Australia where you can run wide open with these powerful cars”. |
